Value: $4,493,000
Completed: 2004

Colin Road Pumping Station

Client: Regional Municipality of Durham
Consultant: Marshall Macklin Managhan
Value: $3,500,000
Completed: January 2006

Located in the City of Oshawa, construction of this new $3,500,000 sewage pumping station commenced in December of 2004. The plant was put into service in January 2006 to accommodate a nearby expanded residential development that relies on this facility to receive the sewage flows and then pump it further downstream to the Durham Region Sewage Treatment Plant.

The Pumphouse itself contains a standby generator, flow meters and odour control system and is positioned overtop of a 40’ deep ‘Wet Well’ consisting of a reinforced concrete raft slab, walls and suspended slab with channel grinders and outfitted with 3,8” wastewater pumps capable of collectively delivering over 35 million liters of sewage per day.

The completion date was critical to the client and was successfully achieved by ASCO.

Embrun Reservoir

Client: Township of Russell
Consultant: Stantec Consulting
Value: $3,077,000
Completed: 2005

The Embrun reservoir, an above-ground concrete water reservoir structure, was designed by Stantec Consulting and awarded to ASCO as a competitive lump-sum tender. The ground condition of this site necessitated steel pile foundations supporting a structural slab-on-grade.

The project was constructed on schedule successfully and incorporated two large structural concrete water storage tanks with two wet wells with the capacity of 1,410 cubic meters of water to meet the demands of the Township of Russell expansion requirements for the next 20 years of development.

The project included an attached control building and administration offices, a booster pump and telemetry system, and site work. As with these types of projects, mechanical, electrical, and controls systems play an important and technically challenging component of the project. The project was completed smoothly and to the customers and consultants complete satisfaction.
